2018 Images Review

I thought I would share some of my favorite images from 2018 with you. I made roughly 30,000 images in 2018 with my E-M1 mkII. Interestingly the split between the 40-150 Pro, 12-40 Pro, and 8-18 Pana-Leica was roughly even. Those made up the 90% of my shooting. The 60mm Macro had a fairly strong representation as well, and then all the rest were more personal shooting. So not all of these are my best images, or my client’s picks, but just images that stood out that I thought were fun to share. I’ll add some notes about them as we go! I wish you could see these in print. I’ve been printing more lately to show clients. It is different when you actually hold images. These images print so well. I think more people would realize that very little is given up if anything if they would see print results. If you have questions on any of these, feel free to drop a comment at the bottom! Happy New Year and ENJOY!

I love the flare on this. I was intentionally trying to get as much as possible in.
This look was virtually straight out of camera. One strobe pretending to be fridge light, one strobe opening up the kitchen a bit, and then a giant scrim diffusing a bank of windows directly behind the camera.
Another from the same series. I love the clean whites.
My client ended up printing this over 40 inches. And it held up great despite being a crop. Amazing.
Plenty of bokeh when you need it.
This shot and the next were in a catalog and look amazing in print.
Probably one of my favorite shots of the year. I have a whole series of plants like this.
Basic headshot…but the detail for m43 is extraordinary. All you need is good controlled light.
This is another of my favorites. It came out exactly as I envisioned. Great artist by the way!

The blowout is intentional on this one. The staging on this shot just works so well for me.
I love that the E-M1 gives me really great color… colors that really match the room and the vision for the shot. I don’t have to work nearly as hard or tweak as much to get it right.
Two shots…one for the sky and one for the ground.
Light painting! Probably 12 strobe pops or so.Each pane of the house, the gardening, etc… I’ve been doing a lot of this lately. Godox 360 was used for the lighting.
Fashion!? Yeah I shot a little bit of clothing this year. This and the following shots were great fun to produce for my client. The files hold up to print great too.
So simple of a shot…nothing special…I think I just loved this bowl.
17mm Pro… my review is coming soon…love that lens…
I love clean kitchens!
