OM-1 and Lightroom Lens Corrections Warning!

Quick update people should be aware of if using an OM-1 and the latest version of lightroom.
If you are using Lightroom and an OM-1 you need to be aware of the following in lightroom now.
In the develop module, under the Lens Corrections tab, “Enable Profile Corrections” NEEDS to be checked on if you are using an OM-1.
Previously, m43 cameras from Olympus automatically had this applied, and a user could not deselect this option.  The lens corrections that Olympus designed were automatically applied to a raw file in lightroom.  There was no other option.  And this is still the case for every Olympus camera up until the OM-1.
Now, Lightroom allows you to turn this on or off.  To get the most out of your lenses and sensor combination… this needs to be ON.  This NEEDS to be on.  Be careful with presets and other items that might accidentally turn this off.
I myself need to rework several of my presets now to ensure this always stays on.
If you notice any weirdness in your files, especially distortion and don’t know why… check this item first!!!!

  1. I also have the OM-1. I also use Lightroom. However I no longer process the raw files with Lightroom. Instead I process the jpg that comes out of the OM-1. Lightroom does seem to process the OM raw files correctly or have decent sharpening or noise reduction. I still save the raw images hoping someday Lightroom will either figure this out of someone will come up with profiles & presets.

  2. Thanks for the update Tony, appreciate your dedication for this website.
